MARFC Members Passes!

We here at MARFC are sending out our thoughts & prayers to MCR Dwarf Car Series Promoter Steve Martin for the loss of his wife Sharon. Sharon has been ill for some time! Both Steve & Sharon have been long time MARFC Members and supporters and Sharon will truly be missed. Services for Sharon are private as per wishes of the family. Also the racing world lost one of the greatest racing promoters of all time as Earl Baltes founder of the Eldora Speedway passed away last week at 93 years old. What a great legacy he leaves behind. God’s Speed to both Sharon and Mr. Baltes!

March 2015 Meeting update!

dragerwebschultzwebOur MARFC meeting held at the Toledo Speedway Bar & Grille following a great RACER’S REUNION was a very informative meeting as Ron Drager explained about the changes that the ARCA racing series has done to keep costs down for all their teams and still be competitive. He also talked about how the MSPA (Michigan Speedways Promoters Association) works hard to keep their gates open and what they can do as a group to help keep fans and racers coming back to their facilities each week. Scott Schultz was on hand to inform all about the changes at both speedways and that they have been able to get sponsors for all their divisions at both tracks. Many thanks to Scott & Ron for making this meeting possible! (Top Left: Ron Drager Top Right: Scott Schultz Bottom: Members of the Board at the MSPA Meeting held in March)mspaweb2

Michigan Racing Legend Jack Goodwin Passes Away!

goodwinwebWe here are very saddened to hear of the passing of one of Michigan’s racing legends Jack Goodwin. Jack has been a longtime MARFC member & supporter. He came to many of our general meetings as a guest speaker and to our annual banquets and was presented the MARFC/Eddie Sachs Memorial Lifetime Achievement Award back in 2006. Jack was a childhood hero of mine and being able to find and connect back up with him again in 1998 and spending time with him when he came to town was priceless. Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife Eunice and Jacks family at this time. Knowing that he is at God’s side now is a comfort for all. Jack has taken his final checkered flag with us here but now is in heaven racing for eternity for the Lord. “God’s Speed My Friend”.

Sincerely, Bill Barnhart MARFC President

A memorial is being planned at the First Chruch of the Nazarene Bradenton on Wednesday March 11th at 4pm.
