RESCHEDULED CRYSTAL MOTOR SPEEDWAY REPORT:

Well we tried once again and lost! We were set up and ready for a night of great dirt track racing at Crystal Motor Speedway then Mother Nature stepped in and flooded us out. SUCKS! Thanks to Ron Flinn and the staff at the speedway for trying to get our annual event in by rescheduling.

MARFC at Birch Run Speedway & Event Center in 2019!

Perfect weather for an awesome night of racing at the Birch Run Speedway & Event Center. Many members made their way to the track and enjoy the evening with an autograph session, kid’s bike give away and good racing. The MARFC Uniform/Helmet Bag went to Street Stock # 20 driver Tim Lahar for being the overall fastest qualifier for the night. Then he preceded to win his heat & feature so, maybe our bag was a good luck piece for Tim. Ronald Smith was our MARFC members winner for the night. Many thanks to Fred and the crew for the great hospitality and to the “Wolfman” Randy Adam for all the great PR too! Volunteers at the MARFC table were Bill Walters, John Jackson and myself for the evening and a big Thank You to Kamille Fitzpatrick who is one of our JR. Racers for helping with the bag presentation. MARFC Goes Road Racing in 2019!

Beautiful day of racing at one of Michigan’s most picturesque racetracks on Sunday July 28 as Waterford Hills Road Racing hosted MARFC. On tap was the Vintage race weekend their biggest race weekend of the year with drivers from all over the US & Canada in attendance with their cool vintage racing machines. Buzz Merchlewitz from Crossville, Tennessee was the grateful recipient of the MARFC Helmet/Uniform bag. Buzz was racing his 1959 Austin Healey Sprite # 511 which he has owned since 1973. This was his very first visit to the challenging twists and turns of Waterford Hills and he took quite a liking to the track, with two firsts and one second place finish on the weekend. Buzz told the crowd that not only was he coming back next year, but he was going to tell all his friends down South about the fantastic facility and great people he met at Waterford Hills and to come up next year. Thanks to Joel Hershoren, Kathy Arnold, Mark Hershoren and Keith Price of Waterford Hills for their hospitality. Special thanks to Rand Thompson for representing the club and this report & photos.(Photo Top: Buzz races his red 1959 Austin Healey Sprite #511 down the frontstretch at Waterford Hills) (Photo Bottom: Buzz Merchlewitz (center) with Waterford Hills representative Keith Price (L) and MARFC Board Member Rand Thompson (R)

A little warm with some sun and a great breeze was on tap for our annual trek to the Thunderbird Raceway. Tons of cars in the pit area with great side by side racing in all divisions. Great to see a few of the Mini-Wedge kids & families stop by the table to say Hi! Our MARFC Uniform/ Helmet Bag was given to long time racer who support his division and the track Modified driver # 6 Mark Farber. Long time MARFC member Peggy Mackey won our MARFC raffle for the night. Special thanks to Tom Sprague and his entire staff for the hospitality of having us back again.
