MARFC April 2020 Update!

Howdie All: Once again just a quick update and reminder that we feel that it is in our best interest to postpone our event and with the state of Michigan’s warnings asking large groups meeting not to take place we have decided to cancel our April 4, 2020 MARFC meeting and hope to reschedule this event later in the fall. Sorry about this but, need to keep folks safe the best we can at this time. We will keep you all informed as to when and where our MARFC Fan Club Day Season will begin! We will do our part in keeping all of our members as safe as we can. If we need to tweak our schedule we will do it the best we can and work with all our MARFC membership tracks to reschedule if need be. Please stay safe and do your part in helping to contain this deadly virus and we will beat it shortly I hope and pray.

Report on MARFC Bowling Event for March 2020!

Even with the way things were going throughout the world we were able to continue with our 3rd Annual Bowling event at the Capitol Lanes in Owosso, MI. All the bowlers who showed up had a great time. Many thanks to all who donated items and their time to help support this event is priceless. After the meeting we held a short awards ceremony and then held our general meeting. We had two guest speakers first was Dale Spencer a racer from the Owosso Speedway who helps with the Racers for Miracles foundation to help children who have cancer issues. Then Bud Gray who now owns and promotes the new Midwest Modified Tour talked about the special races set up for the 2020 season. Bowling Tournament awards winners were: Men’s High Score: Dan Stewart, Women’s High Score: Susan Lightner, Team High Score: Dan Stewart & Chuck Washburn Sr., The Greg Yost Never Give Up Award went to Cheyanne Darling and the Chris Throgmartin Spirt Award was given to I-96 Speedway promoter Jeff Dice. A special couple of raffles winners were Junior Gokee and Dan Stewart who received and MARFC Bag and a Speedway Gas Gift Card. A Very Big Thanks to Chuck Darling and his crew for all the hard working setting up the great event to support our MARFC/Randall Ginter Benevolent Fund and the American Heart Association.(Photo TopBack:Dan Gokee & Chuck Washburn Sr. Bottom Row: Susan Lightner, Cheyanne Darling, Chuck Darling, Sean Sprague, Dan Stewart) (Photo Bottom Left: Bud Gray) (Photo Bottom Right:Dale Spencer)(Next Photo: MARFC Memeber Jason VanDusen winner of Man Cave Raffle) ( Bottom Photo: Bowlers supporting this event)

MARFC General Meeting Report for February 2020!

We have to give a big thanks to Jimmy & Barb Gullett for inviting us to their Gullett Racing Shop in Armada, Michigan. With nearly 30 folks on hand it was a fantastic meeting. First speaker was Rob Michon to talk a little about our April meeting the Kylie Watz told us of how she got stated in racing and hopes to repeat her championship again in 2020. She will be racing her Mini Wedge at both Crystal Motor and Tri-City Motor Speedways in 2020. Then Keegan Sobilo Over All & Young Guns Champion Great Lakes Super Mini Cup Series was on hand to tell us about how he got started racing and the afternoon of our meeting his new ride in the JR. CRA Late Model car was on display at the Autorama Show at Cobo Hall and is looking forward to the 2020 season. Then Jimmy Tucker updated us on his crew chief duties this year so far and what is on tap for the rest of the season and is working on his own CRA Late Model car to drive during the 2020 season also. Again, thanks so much to Jimmy & Barbara for providing lunch and snacks for all who attended. Our 50/50 raffle was won by Gene Hurd and he graciously donated it back to the club for the children’s Christmas party later this year.(Photo Top: Left:Kylie Watz Right: Rob Michon) ( Top Below: Left: Keegan Sobilo Center: Jimmy Tucker) (Photo Bottom: MARFC Members at Gullett Racing)
