Condolences to the Family of Ashley Loving

January 27, 2009

Sad news to report!

We here at the Michigan Automobile Racing Fan Club are very saddened to inform our membership of the passing of Long time member Jane Horan who passed away last weekend. Jane was the Mother & Grandmother of Chuck & Jeff Horan our 2006 Fans of the Year and the Aunt of board member Laura Tucker. Jane was a long time race fan whose family has always been involved in our sport. We here at MARFC send out deepest sympathies to the entire Horan family at this sad time.

Condolences to the family of Ashley Loving

TOLEDO, Ohio (1-28-09)–Condolences to the family of Ashley Loving, who was a familiar face in the grandstands at Flat Rock and Toledo Speedways and whose family has long been deeply involved in ARCA sanctioned racing. Ashley courageously battled life threatening illnesses since birth and passed away peacefully Tuesday January 27, at the age of 15.  Ashley’s parents are Robbie and Jonelle Loving and grandparents are Frank and Peggy Loving. Frank Loving raced in the ARCA Figure-8 and Super Six divisions at numerous tracks, Peggy Loving was a scorer for the ARCA Figure-8 Series and Robbie is a three-time ARCA Figure-8 champion at Flat Rock and Toledo.

We are also sad to say that one our youngest fan club members Ashley Loving passed away this morning. Ashley is the daughter of Many time ARCA Figure 8 Champion Robbie & Jonelle Loving. Her Grandparents are long time members Frank & Peggy Loving. We know not why God has chosen to take her home at this time but, rest assured that she stands now at his side. Our thoughts & prayers are with the Loving family at this time. “God’s Love & Speed” to both these loved ones! Sincerely, Bill Barnhart President MARFC

From the President

Here we are already the start of a new year. I hope everyone had a great Christmas and the New Year brings us all health, happiness, and hard fun racing. Looking forward to seeing what is going to happen with all the different tracks making changes and folks moving around from one track to another. Kind of reminds me of the NASCAR Silly Season. Who’s going where and who’s running what!

I am truly hopeful that all tracks members and non-members alike have a great 2009 racing season and that all our racers and fans continue to support their local tracks this year as I hope and pray that they all are able to open the gates as soon as Mother Nature moves on in the Spring.

On Saturday January 24, 2009 there will be the third Mt. Clemens Race Track party at Kart 2 Kart located on Van Dyke just south of 19 mile Rd. There will be kart racing for those who wish to participate in hot laps, qualifying, & running a feature. They will need to know if you are attending to ride the karts so they can schedule the reservation time. We invite anyone who has photos or items that they would like to share with others or if you just wish to come and bench race that is fine too. Late November/December Events

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from all of us at MARFC!!

Our third invite to the Mt. Clemens Christmas Parade was cold but outstanding. We had two race cars on hand with special thanks to Brian Bauman and Mark Johnson who brought their cars out for the parade. Many thanks to all who volunteered to help during out at this event!

Over 50 children and their parents were in attendance at our annual Children’s Christmas Party. Once again DA the Clown entertained all young and old with a magic show and custom balloon making. There was and outstanding lunch for all as well as a MARFC back pack filled with goodies for each child who was there to see Santa. Then the big man in the Red Suit arrived to everyone’s delight and presented each child with a gift and Mrs. Claus was on hand to make sure they each got a candy cane as they got their photos taken with Santa.
