August 2009 Minutes

From the President

Well, it’s been a month since I took over the top spot from my long time friend “Wild Bill” Barnhart and the first thing I need to say is Thank You to all of the fans, drivers, crew members and Promoters who have come up to me at the tracks and offer words of encouragement and support as I get used to this new position of president. I need your help and here is what I need. I need for all of you that want to receive the newsletter by e-mail only to e-mail me at president@marfc.org and let me know. I realize that you may have done this with Wild Bill but I want to be sure and have your latest e-mail address. Please include your name with the e-mail so I know for sure who it comes from.

We also sent out the 2009 raffle tickets with the newsletter. Please try to sell these as this is the club’s most important fund raiser for the year. If you need more then please contact me and I will be sure to get some more to you. A great big Thank you goes out to Pat Moran of The Moran Automotive Family for sponsoring the ticket printing for the raffle. The Moran Automotive Family carries the Chevrolet, Cadillac, GMC, and Saturn lines of vehicles and has been a long time supporter of MARFC as well as being a supporter of local Auto Racing.

The racing season is beginning to wind on down to the end so make sure to get out to a track near you or take advantage of the last remaining fan club days for 2009.

I would like to extend our deepest sympathies to the family of club member Jim Efaw who recently passed away. Jim was a crewmember on the Late Model #71 of Terry Bogusz Jr. and was just an all around great guy and lover of racing. God Speed Jim.

I would also like to extend sympathies to “Wild Bill” Barnhart and his family on the recent loss of his Mother Shirley Jean McCormick. Mrs. McCormick had been battling many health issues as of late and finally her body could take no more and she was called home. Please keep these two families in your prayers as well as the family of Harold Curtis who was fatally injured in an incident at the Hartford Speedway. Harold was a member of the safety crew and also a fireman.

Dave DeHem, MARFC President
