April 2009 Minutes

From the President

Well the time is here again and the sounds of engines being tuned up and the smell of racing fuel is in the air. I know how hard it is going to be for both race tracks and race fans to be able to support our sport this season as the economy here in Michigan is still very much in the negative stages. I hope that we all can do what we can to insure that auto racing here in our state survives these hard times and bounce back to full grandstands and the pits filled with cars. As in our sport racers, fans and track owners are still all one big family as we tend to stick together to help our sport continue no matter what. So each week that you can attend the races stop the promoters and racers and say thanks for working hard to keep racing alive right here in Michigan. Our friend Vito LoPiccolo contacted me and wanted to tell all who called so sent get well wishes Thank You Very Much. He is doing well but will be side lined for awhile longer yet.

I’d also like to Welcome to the Winston Speedway to our club as a membership track for 2009. Check our events page for our fan club day at Winston this season.

As Always Keep Racing!

March Meeting

Ron Drager Scott Schultz Ed Inloes Gary Lindahl

Like always a packed house was on hand at the Toledo Speedway Bar & Grille. Many who were there for the Old Timers Reunion during the day stayed around and enjoyed our meeting that followed afterward. First Ron Drager presented two short highlight videos of the 2008 ARCA Re/Max season and then talked about the upcoming 2009 season for ARCA. Then Scott Schultz explained some of the changes that will happen at both Toledo & Flat Rock for 2009. It was time for our next guest speaker “Big Ed” Inloes who talked about the MSTRC bowling fund raiser back in February and how they raised $ 2.526.50 for a pair of racers who need some help with injuries this past season. He also talked about the 2009 seasons at Spartan and Auto City Speedways that he announces at as well as working again with Larry Loynes on their Race Talk radio show on WFNT AM 1470 each week. Then Gary Lindahl talked about the Old Timers Reunion and told a few good racing stories for all to enjoy.
