Now that Santa has delivered all the new bodies, chassis, and other racing items it time to welcome in the New Year. 2007 was a hard year for most as with the untimely deaths in racing and all the bad weather that was had by all our tracks here in Michigan I for one am glad to see it go and hope & pray that 2008 season brings us health, happiness and countless victories.
Our 42nd Annual Awards & Dinner Dance Banquet once again will be on January 19, 2008. So if you are planning on attending this event get your tickets early as there will be NO TICKETS SOLD AT THE DOOR! Purchase Tickets contact me at president@marfc.org. Ticket date line is January 10, 2008. Our top award winners will all be with us on this great night of Champions. Phil Parsons has informed us that he will be with us as well as Artie Sommers, Dick Beebe and Verwayne Greenhoe. Our Mater of Ceremonies for the night will be “Shut Up Roger” Williams from the Crystal Motor Speedway. Can’t wait to see all the track & series champions who have sent in their RSVPs also! We can still use as many volunteers to help with the set up at 10:00 am at DeCarlo’s Banquet Hall and clean up after the banquet. If you would like to volunteer please contact me as soon as possible. I thank you in advance for your support and assistance.
Also don’t forget it is membership renewal time. Renew now and don’t be put on our drop out list for 2008. So don’t wait do it now and use the enclosed membership renewal form.
On Saturday January 26, 2008 there will be the second Mt. Clemens Race Track party at Kart 2 Kart located on Van Dyke just south of 19 mile Rd. There will be kart racing for those who wish to participate in hot laps, qualifying, & running a feature. They will need to know if you are attending to ride the karts so they can schedule the reservation time. We invite anyone who has photos or items that they would like to share with others or if you just wish to come and bench race that is fine too. For those of you who are racing, registration is at 5:30, first session will start around 6:00 pm. For those that are just showing up to watch and talk about the good times, arrive any time after 6:00 pm. We will have the big conference room like last time. Another great afternoon was had be all who attended the annual Children’s Christmas Party. Despite the cold rainy weather out side there was a full house on hand to see Santa and enjoy “DA” the Clown who made many custom shaped balloons for all the kid’s and then put on a great magic show for all. Then we were lead in some Christmas songs buy Ashley Loving. Then Santa came and gave out presents to all the children. A raffle was held and each child won an extra gift to take home as well as making their own custom door knob name hangers.
