September 2004

September already! And with just a few special shows to get in before the weather gets too cold for fans to sit in the stands. Congratulation’s to all the new champions across the state of Michigan we hope to see many of you at our Annual Banquet in January. Speaking about the banquet the date will be January 15, 2005 once again we will be at the Imperial House Banquet Hall located on Groesbeck in Clinton Township, MI.

We need to take a moment and help support and say thanks to the folks who help keep us informed about auto racing not only locally but nationally like the following: National SpeedSport News, Michigan Racing Scene, Mid-American Racing News, Marc Times Racing News and don’t forget the race fans bible the National Speedway Directory. Also the radio shows like: Pit Pass USA on WXYT AM 1270 with Larry Henery and Auto City Race Day on WTRX Flint’s Fox Sports 1330 with Greg Yost and Motor City Motor Sports on WLQV 1500 AM with Vito LoPiccolo.

As Always Keep Racing!

August Meetings

Kinross Speedway

Weather was outstanding and cars were plentiful in the pit area. The recipient of the MARFC Uniform / Helmet bag went to a driver that has been one of many loyal drivers at the Speedway for years. Despite struggling with a new ride this season, he continues to persevere & compete weekly in the Pure Stock Division driving the # 22 Ray Golladay Sr. Special thanks to Todd & Donna for a grand time and to Gerry Liscumb thanks for all the arrangements. Our members had a fun time. Our VP Larry Iacoboni and wife Suzanne were on hand to welcome members at our fan club table.

Owosso Speedway

Great crowd on hand for the regular show plus autograph night at the speedway. Weather was great and all had a great time. Our MARFC/Uniform Helmet Bag was given to the # 17 street stock driver Nick Burd. Nick is only 17 years old and just graduated from high school and chose to miss his own graduation party to go racing. Congratulations Nick! Very special thanks to Ron Hauser and Dave Bigos for keeping Owosso in our club and to Stacey Hoag for all her help setting up this event. Helpers for the night were Doug Jakeway and Sue Ginter.

Michigan International Speedway

For the sixth time this season Mother Nature put a damper on the days event for all MARFC members who came out to MIS. If you were the ones who arrive very early you got the chance to see some of the practice that was done before the rains came. We’d like to say Thank You to Brett Shelton, Bill Janitz and everyone else at MIS for arranging the event again this year. We look forward to next year’s event at MIS.
