7th Annual MARFC Family Picnic

What a beautiful day in the park. Nearly 50 people showed up to enjoy some great cooking from Larry Iacoboni and some great side dishes brought out by our members. The junior race fans had a wonderful time with the PiƱata from Cory and Steve Russell and playing the games that were led by Wild Bill Barnhart and I think Bill had just as much fun as the kids did. The adult kids joined in the fun as well and some of even got a ribbon for a job well done. If you haven’t attended one of these picnics yet, be sure to put the second Sunday of July 2011 on your schedule.

Spartan Fan Club Day

Another fantastic night for our re-scheduled visit to “the Track the Stars Call Home”! Jim Leasure and the Spartan Speedway crew did a great job this night with some exciting and close racing. Our helmet bag went to Earl “The Pearl” Miles driver of the #73 modified. Our member raffle winner was Vickie Baldwin. The new stands are just plain excellent for spectating and Big Ed’s new Penthouse is way up in the sky. Table Helpers were Al Peltier, Sue Ginter, Chuck and Jeffery Horan, Rose Calabrase, Doug Jakeaway and Al Clark. Many thanks to Jim Leasure, Bill Lackey, Ed Inloes, and the rest of the great staff at Spartan for a fantastic night of racing. Club members even got to see the President turn a few laps in a Legends Car too, but we won’t talk about that for now.

I-96 Fan Club Day

Had a great day for racing at the newly reconfigured I-96 Speedway! David Holcomb III was the recipient of the MARFC Helmet Bag. David is 13 years old and running his first season in the 4 cylinder division. David and his family have been longtime supporters of the Speedway. Our member raffle winner was Greg Sheppard for the second event in a row, now he needs to buy a lottery ticket with that kind of luck. Yours truly got to spend some time with Poor Paul Zimmerman and Wayne Bittner who helped out at the table. Many thanks to Mike and Sarah Mouch for having the club out for a night of racing and to former MARFC Honoree Tim O’Leary as well as track announcer Denny Vogel for the PR on this great night.

Event Reminder 7/14/2010

Hey Race Fans,

I just wanted to remind everyone of a few of our upcoming fan club days. This Saturday, July 17 we will be at the Whittemore Speedway in Whittemore Michigan. It will be the first ever date for the oldest speedway in Michigan. The track is easy to get to as it is located in downtown Whittemore on M-65 just south of M-55.

Next week we have a double header with Mt. Pleasant on Friday July 23rd and then again at Galesburg on Saturday, July 24th.

We will end our month with three nights in a row. Friday night, July 30 will take us to the Winston Speedway in Rothbury, over on the state’s west side. Jump off of US-31 at the Rothbury/Winston Rd. exit and you are there as you can see the speedway from the road.

Saturday and Sunday July 31/August 1 will see us at the Springport Motor Speedway with Saturday being hosted by the Speedway and Sunday being the re-scheduled date being hosted by Bill Lackey and the SuperPro Racing series.

So head on out to any one or all of these dates and I look forward to “Seeing You at the Races”
