From the President

THE FINAL PRESIDENTS THOUGHTS: As a member of MARFC since 1980 I have enjoyed every minute of it and will continue carrying a MARFC membership card always. This is my final set of thoughts as the President of MARFC. After ten years of leading what I think is the greatest fan club in the country. I have decided to step down as President to take care of some personal family matters. It has been my greatest pleasure to help make our club grow and lead it into the new century and keep it moving forward. To meet so many other people who have the same passion about auto racing that I have has been awesome over all. The close friendships that I have made with members as well as all the track promoters across this state has made it all worth more than I can tell you. There are so many people to thank that I can’t list them all without forgetting someone. So I say a very grateful thank you to you all! To the board of directors who I have served with for the past few years I thank you for making my job so much easier to do. It is with all their support that I was able to keep our club the best Fan Club in the country.

I will not be leading the club any longer but I will continue as Vice-President to help our new President keep us all going in the right direction. I ask that all of you as fans, drivers, crews and promoters support Dave DeHem as he takes charge in the leadership of MARFC. Please give him the same support, loyalty, and courtesy that you have given to me over these past ten years. Once again I Thank everyone for everything!

You can still reach me anytime at my new club e-mail address, vicepresident@marfc.org.

MAY FAN CLUB DAY REPORTS

Kalamazoo Speedway: Board Member Al Peltier & son Brendon were on hand to greet members at the Kalamazoo Speedway for our first fan club night of the 2009 season. Great weather and awesome racing was on tap for the night. Our MARFC/Uniform Helmet Bag was presented to track announcer Jason Seltzer for his dedication to the sport for many years at the speedway. We wish to thank Gary & Donna Howe and the staff at Kalamazoo for a great night.

Spartan Speedway: Cloudy & warm weather on hand and a packed field of cars at Spartan for our annual outing at the speedway. Great to see many members stop by and say Hi! Super Late Model driver Dave Stehouwer was awarded our MARFC/Uniform Helmet Bag that evening for his support of the division at the speedway.

Our MARFC members raffle winner for the night was Stella Lindahl. Many thanks to Jim Leasure, Paul Zimmerman, Bill Lackey and to “Big Ed” Inloes for welcoming us back again this season.

Owosso Speedway: Mother Nature won on the night of our return to the Owosso Speedway. But we have a rescheduled date for Saturday May 30, 2009. Thanks to the team at Owosso for getting us back on schedule so quickly.

Auto City Speedway: Very cold weather made for a quick paced night of racing at Auto City. Six divisions were on hand for MARFC members to enjoy. Pure Stock # 96 driver Rex “Roll Over” Perry was awarded our MARFC/Uniform Helmet Bag for his support of his division. A big thank you to Joe DeWitte and the entire staff for making our night outstanding once again this season! Our MARFC raffle winner was Taylor Fischer.

Charlie Orns Sr.

We here at MARFC are saddened by the news of the passing of one of our members.

Charlie Orns Sr. passed away this past weekend. Charlie and his wife Peggy were great supporters of our club and worked at the Toledo Speedway selling photos for their son Charlie for the past several years. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Orns family at this time. “God’s Speed”
