Great weather! Awesome new look to the speedway what a great job by President Brett Shelton, Bill Janitz and the staff at Michigan for a job well done. I know that all our members who attended had an outstanding time. Look foreword to next year’s event. Thanks again to M.I. S. for allowing our members to see the best Speedway NASCAR has on its schedule.

Official Statement about the Owosso Fan Club Night:
The following e-mail was sent to all MARFC members with e-mail addresses on file just hours before our fan club day event.
“Due to circumstances beyond our control, MARFC Night at the Owosso speedway has been cancelled. The club expresses our apologies for the late notice but we just found out ourselves.
Please contact anyone you know that was planning on attending and inform them of the change”
The reason the Fan Club Night at Owosso was cancelled is as follows:
Less than 24 hours before the long advertised date. The owners of the Speedway would not agree to the guidelines of how fan club days are held by all other Member Tracks of the Michigan Auto Racing Fan Club.
After much discussion between myself and other board members, it was decided to cancel the day. We tried, through the internet to let as many people as possible know of the cancellation.
We deeply regret any inconvenience this may have caused any of you that showed up at the track last night expecting a fan club day, please accept our apologies.
All remaining fan club days as scheduled are still happening as advertised.
In nearly 40 years as a club we have never had to do this type of thing before and hope to never do it again. The Owosso Speedway has been a member of our club for nearly 38 years with all the other owners and promoters that it has had and we sure hate to see it fall from our membership. But at this time Owosso will no longer be apart of our organization. Maybe she will return someday with the right person at the controls.
Once again we are sorry for seeing this all happen. I wish best of luck to the Owosso Speedway without the support of the Michigan Automobile Racing Fan Club.

We here at MARFC send our thoughts & prayers to Ed Van Duinen who’s father passed away the morning of our fan club day event at Merritt Speedway. Ed & Carmen are the promoters of the speedway and we send them our deepest sympathies at this time.
