MARFC Goes Road Racing in 2019!

Beautiful day of racing at one of Michigan’s most picturesque racetracks on Sunday July 28 as Waterford Hills Road Racing hosted MARFC. On tap was the Vintage race weekend their biggest race weekend of the year with drivers from all over the US & Canada in attendance with their cool vintage racing machines. Buzz Merchlewitz from Crossville, Tennessee was the grateful recipient of the MARFC Helmet/Uniform bag. Buzz was racing his 1959 Austin Healey Sprite # 511 which he has owned since 1973. This was his very first visit to the challenging twists and turns of Waterford Hills and he took quite a liking to the track, with two firsts and one second place finish on the weekend. Buzz told the crowd that not only was he coming back next year, but he was going to tell all his friends down South about the fantastic facility and great people he met at Waterford Hills and to come up next year. Thanks to Joel Hershoren, Kathy Arnold, Mark Hershoren and Keith Price of Waterford Hills for their hospitality. Special thanks to Rand Thompson for representing the club and this report & photos.(Photo Top: Buzz races his red 1959 Austin Healey Sprite #511 down the frontstretch at Waterford Hills) (Photo Bottom: Buzz Merchlewitz (center) with Waterford Hills representative Keith Price (L) and MARFC Board Member Rand Thompson (R)
