A Day of Remembrance! Memorial Day 2017

As I sit here thinking about what to write about this upcoming Memorial Day I remember what my Grandfather said about serving during World War II. He said that he was a part of a group of 300 who went through basic training together and after it was all said and done only 76 came home. Some disabled and others unhurt but emotionally affected. So, I think every time I hear that we in the United States have it made with what we have in our freedoms. To be able to go, say, do and see what we want, you must remember that all this freedom we have came at a cost! Just think of the 224 that didn’t return in just my Grandfathers group and times that by all the groups from all the wars and battles that have gone by over the last 241 years and stand there and tell me it’s Free! Folks the word Freedom may have the word free in it but, trust me it is NOT FREE! So, I am asking all of you to take the time and remember all those who have given their lives for our freedom and those who have served before, now and in the future here at home and across the world because they are the reason we do have all the freedoms to do the thing we all love to do including going to the races, being able to race the cars or just be a part of racing in one way or another, and just enjoying our sport of auto racing across this great country of ours. Love it or hate it America is our country and it is up to us to see she continues to keep moving forward with all the freedoms that our forefathers established those many years ago. Take the time when you see any of our service men and women and thank them for their service and especially those who didn’t come home and remember them always. It’s not just the military but also our police, fire & rescue personal and all the first responders who need to be Thanked Also!
