A large crowd on hand for the 14th Annual Racers Reunion at the Toledo Speedway Bar & Grille with Donald Davison, Tom Bigelow, and Ron Hemelgarn doing a great round table discussion. Andy Hillenburg was scheduled to be at the reunion but the day before was in a stunt car accident and injured his L-1 vertebrate in his back we send get well wishes to Andy and after the reunion our March general meeting was held in which Flat Rock & Toledo Speedways owner & President of ARCA Ron Drager talked about the upcoming season and the TV deal that ARCA has for all 20 of their races for 2017. Ron also gave a health update on his partner who helped with the purchase & renovations of the Toledo Speedway Roy Mott. Roy still not doing very well with his illness but is continuing to move forward and hopes to get back to the track soon. Then Scott Schultz general manager for both tracks let us all now about some of the special race dates and events at both the speedways for 2017. Earlier this month MARFC board members attended the spring annual meeting of the Michigan Speedway Promoters Association that meets twice a year to discuss the ongoing concerns of running a speedway with, insurance, how to get more fans and bigger car counts along with discussing how to make rules a line between the different tracks. Believe it or not they are working hard to keep our sport alive and help the fans, car owners, and drivers continue to move forward in racing her in Michigan. Kalamazoo Speedway was chosen by the MSPA as its 2016 Promoter of the Year Award and owner Gary Howe was very thankful for this honor by his fellow track owners.
