Waterford Hills Raceway Weclomes MARFC for 2013!

WaterfordwebClub Vice President Dave DeHem and board members Jeff Horan and Rand Thompson were on hand the greet members and present our MARFC Uniform/Helmet Bag to Dr. Norman Betts and Dr. Todd Napelraski. The rest of this update was written by Rand: One of the best parts about being involved with the Michigan Auto Racing Fan Club is when we award a helmet bag to a driver of the track’s choice at our Fan Club Nights. This last Sunday, the fantastic Waterford Hills Road Racing facility in Clarkston hosted our club for the second year. Quite a great story that I had to share! Two of the racers were a father and son team who had traveled several hours from Canada to compete. The son had developed a very painful tooth problem and had asked the track staff if they knew of an emergency dental clinic in the area. There just happened to be a couple of oral surgeons on site this weekend with Waterford regular driver Danny Kellermeyer. Initially they were asked to perscribe an antibiotic and pain meds, but it didn’t stop there. They actually performed oral surgery in their camper at the racetrack and extracted the tooth! Here is a picture of the 2 doctors (1 on the far right and the other second from left (next to me) ) Notice the doctors holding the tools used for the procedure! The patient is standing in the center with the camo hat, next to his father with red and yellow suit. Finally you can see Danny Kellermeyer in the background. Most non racing people think we love racing for the cars, but we all know that it is the people that make it special. Many thanks to Joel Hershoren and Waterford Hills for having us again this year!
