Whittemore Speedway Welcomes MARFC for 2012!

Saturday July 14th saw the club head to the oldest speedway in Michigan, the Whittemore Speedway which is also a community owned track that is promoted by the Whittemore Racing Club and its Board of Directors led by President, Andy Hess. Denny Trinklien was on hand again with Barry Meschke and Bob “Pops” Berggevin helping out at the table. The MARFC Helmet Bag recipient was young Taylor Babcock who travels down from Rudyard in the Upper Peninsula to be at Whittemore. Taylor presently sits in the number one spot as point’s leader in the 4 cylinder division and along with her family have been great ambassadors of the speedway and the sport of auto racing. Taylor is a past honoree at the annual MARFC Awards Banquet for her championship efforts at the Kinross Speedpark in the 4 cylinders and in the Go-Karts at the Mio Kart track. “Big” Don Colbath was the winner of the MARFC Member Raffle. Once again, many thanks go out to the Whittemore Racing Club and Andy Hess for their support of the club and working hard to keep Whittemore Speedway up and running for all these years.

MARFC at Tri City Motor Speedway!

The Black Cat may have purred but she didn’t keep the fans from some great racing action at the Tri City Motor Speedway this past Friday the 13th. Denny Trinklien, Barry Meschke and Kenny Letts were our table helpers while Dorothy Everett was the MARFC Member raffle winner. Everett’s name was drawn by Kyle Borgman who was the recipient of the MARFC Helmet Bag. Kyle, who pilots the #72 Late Model   is the son of 2003 Michigan Modified Association Dirt Champion, Dan Borgman. Kyle has been making the over 2 ½ hour trip from the Muskegon area every Friday night since the track re-opened in 2011 and is the defending Late Model Champion. Many thanks go out to Steve and Denny Puvalowski as well as track PA Announcer and Tom Carnegie Award Winner “Shut Up” Roger Williams for having the club out to the races. Also Thank You to Mark Fuzi for taking the pictures.
