March 2006 Minutes

President’s Desk

As we get started in our 41st year as a club we are proud to announce that the Berlin Raceway and the I-96 Speedway are now part of our membership tracks list. We welcome them to our club and thank them for being a part of our ever-growing club. Very special thanks to all our membership tracks for cautioning to support our club. May all of the promoters as well as racers and fans have an outstanding 2006 racing season.

We here at MARFC send our deepest sympathies to the family of John Stout who we just learned passed away a few months ago. John was a long time member and supporter of our club he will be missed deeply. Our prayers are with his wife Jeannie and his family. “God’s Speed” to you John!

See You at the Races!

Bill Barnhart

President MARFC

February Meeting

Our February meeting was one of our biggest meetings. On hand we had Flat Rock & Toledo Speedway general manager Scott Schultz informed all in attendance all about the upcoming season with new shows like figure “8” train races, roll over contest & the 25th Anniversary fireworks at Flat Rock along with the five 100 lap Late Model shows at Toledo for the Gold Cup Series.

Mark Gundrum PR & Marketing director for ARCA talked about where he came from in the former ASA series for nearly 30 years and as a promoter in Wisconsin. Ron Drager talked about the new catch fence all around Toledo Speedway and the new hotel going up right next to the speedway and the new state of the art lighting that will be in place at Toledo. Ron also showed us a short set of video clips from the 2005 ARCA season as well as a bio & tribute to 7 time ARCA champ Frank Kimmel.

Brian Norton told us a little bit about the Old Timers Reunion gathering at the Speedway Bar & Grille in March.

Eddie Sachs talked about his new roll as host of Motor City Motor Sports and when it will air. Starting date was changed to Tuesday April 18, 2006.
